In 2017, the Toronto scAnalysis Working Group was founded and launched by a remarkable group of people as a grassroots Slack community focused on single-cell technologies. It quickly grew beyond Toronto, creating a vibrant hub for discussions and knowledge-sharing.

Like many grassroots initiatives, the momentum of the group was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In April 2023, Panoramics – A Vision was formed as a new initiative with its own mission and leadership, focused on building a national ecosystem around spatial and single-cell technologies. Panoramics took over stewardship of the Toronto scAnalysis Working Group's slack workspace and its members, rebranding it to Panoramics - A Vision,  providing support to this community, while independently maintaining and building a distinct set of goals and values from the Toronto scAnalysis Working Group.

On 8th July 2025, Panoramics - A Vision incorporated federally and discontinued its stewardship of the slack community, which has since been renamed to Canada Single Cell Working Group by the original founders of the Toronto scAnalysis Working Group.​
